Ixion was a Chig planet located only few light years from the Chig homeworld.
History
Its strategic significance was held to be greater than the sum total of all the worlds intended to captured during Operation Roundhammer. When the Chig defence fleet was withdrawn a massive invasion was launched this resulted in the battle of Ixion
aftermath
With Ixion in human hands the whole course of the war sifted with the Chigs suddenly finding themselves at risk of an attack upon their homeworld and were forced to abandon all offensive operations and committing to defense of their home system.
